Life isn t honey well at least not always. Whether you like it or not accidents do happen, the only way you can prevent yourself from paying thousands if not hundred of thousands of dollars in case of an accident, is correctly choosing an auto insurance policy. If you re already at it then consider buying Bodily Injury Liability.

Put yourself in a situation for a moment; you just had a car accident and injuries are involved. You believe that everything will be fine since you are insured and you re right, you don t have to worry if your auto insurance policy contains Bodily Injury Liability.

This is no joke; if you are the one found guilty for an accident with injuries involved and your auto insurance policy doesn t cover Bodily Injury Liability you can be sued for A LOT of money. To make the last sentence clearer: You can even loose your house, any assets you may have and in certain cases drown in debt not to mention filing for bankruptcy. I would think that is unpleasant.

Buying more liability for your auto insurance is always a smart idea and will give you piece of mind. You can be an excellent driver just remember you aren t a machine you can get nervous, hungry, sad, tired and those are more than enough reasons to get yourself into an accident on an unlucky day.

You can drop your comprehensive coverage, and raise your deductibles. If your car isn t worth 10 times your premium (meaning it is relatively old) you can even drop your collision and comprehensive coverages all together.

Discounted auto insurance is always a good idea however, do it correctly and calculated don t drop it too low because you might fall. You can find ways to correctly and costs efficiently build your auto insurance policy visit Auto Insurance Information

Grey imports show true sticking power, says Swinton
GREY IMPORTS SHOW TRUE STICKING POWER, SAYS SWINTON

Swinton Specialist motor insurance experiences 18% increase in enquiries for non-standard motors in the last 12 months

Yesterday s boy racers are growing up, but instead of ditching their beloved Japanese imports, like the ever-popular Nissan Skyline, and opting for something a little more refined, they re sticking to their beloved motors.

The UK s largest high street /motor.swinton.co.uk/car”">motor insurance broker, Swinton, is launching Swinton Specialist, a dedicated team to handle the upsurge in customers seeking quotes for non-standard motor insurance. Swinton believe that this boom is due to the reluctance of drivers over 30 to give up their modified cars.

In the last 12 months Swinton has seen a 18% hike in demand for /www.swinton.co.uk/press/article.php?id=67″”>specialist, performance and modified car insurance quotes and the new division will handle enquiries for all modified, high performance, imported and other non-standard motors.

Grey imports ” cars not available in this country ” are remaining massively popular, with exclusive Japanese motors more desirable than ever. Far from being a passing phase in the performance car market, as speculated by some, following the release of films such as the Fast and the Furious, their popularity has soared.

The car s high specification and excellent value given the strong UK pound is coupled with the trend for short-term car ownership and low corrosive driving conditions in Japan ” leaving them in prime condition for UK owners.

Neil Ackinclose, head of Swinton Specialist, commented: “Performance cars have never been more popular in the UK and we are launching Swinton Specialist to provide motor insurance for this growing market. The internet has become THE market place for car sales, and this has opened up the international car market to UK buyers.”

But it s not just yesterdays boy racers who are snapping-up Japanese imports according to Swinton, who have seen a resurgence of men and women in their 20s making the most of low interest rates to buy specialist cars.

“We continue to see growing interest from the younger end of the market, where customers have high disposable incomes and credit is easily obtainable,” says Swinton s Neil Ackinclose. “/car.swinton.co.uk/imported/”">Japanese Grey imports lend themselves excellently to this market, especially when prices can start for as little as 2k!

“We also believe that high house prices have barred many twenty-somethings from getting on the property ladder, meaning their money is freed-up to spend on nice cars. Importing is now extremely popular as it offers excellent value for stylish, individual machines.”

Swinton has also seen a steady increase in the number of /car.swinton.co.uk/performance/”">modified and high performance cars on their books.

Swinton Specialist searches through specialist schemes from top motor insurers and offers low premiums to owners of modified and performance cars ” with great deals on modified cars, performance cars, grey imports, and penalty pointed drivers. Value-for-money premiums are also available for cars with limited mileage, for owners belong to car clubs, as well as those with good security and tracking devices.

Swinton s Top-10 grey imports:

1. Nissan Skyline (Japan)

2. Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution (Japan)

3. Subaru Impreza (Japan)

4. Toyota Supra (Japan)

5. Mazda RX7 (Japan)

Auto Insurance PIP - What is It?
A good automobile insurance policy includes several elements: personal property liability, uninsured motorist coverage, collision coverage, bodily injury liability, comprehensive coverage and personal injury protection (PIP). Some of these elements are mandated by the state and others are optional. Collision coverage pays for damages to a vehicle when it collides with another vehicle or object, even if the policyholder is at fault. Comprehensive coverage protects the policyholder in the event that his or her vehicle is stolen, vandalized, harmed by an act of nature or otherwise damaged. Both of these plans are always optional and very expensive.

The bodily injury and personal property liabilities are required by all U.S. states in one form or another; where the states differ greatly is in the minimum guaranteed payout that is set for each. For example, in Alaska, a driver is required to carry coverage that has a guaranteed minimum bodily injury payout of $100,000. In Florida, a driver is only required to carry coverage worth $10,000.

Elements of an auto insurance policy that may or may not be optional are: uninsured motorist coverage and PIP. Uninsured motorist coverage protects the policyholder in case he or she is involved in an accident with someone who is uninsured ” it provides the coverage that would have been supplied by the other driver. PIP, in the event of an accident, pays for the medical expenses and other miscellaneous damages incurred by the policyholder and his or her passengers (or if the policyholder is an injured pedestrian). Carrying PIP is mandatory in: Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Hawaii, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Oregon and Utah.

Who Needs PIP?

Even if PIP is optional in your state, you may still want to consider purchasing the coverage. In the event of an accident, PIP will pay approximately 80% (depending on coverage limits) of the costs of the policyholder and passengers. These costs include medical bills, lost wages and other miscellaneous expenses. PIP is a no-fault policy, so it will cover you and your passengers, even if the accident was your fault.

PIP, sometimes referred to as Medical Payment Insurance or Medpay, is a no-fault coverage for two reasons. First, the fact that fault does not have to be ascertained saves time and therefore allows medical payments to reach the injured parties as quickly as possible. Second, it saves everyone from the cost of lawsuits being filed in order to prove who is responsible for an accident and therefore responsible for the bills. The only time a PIP policy might allow for a lawsuit is in case of very serious injury or death.

Before you purchase PIP, go through your current policies and determine whether or not the coverage offered by PIP is duplicated anywhere else. For example, the cost of medical bills and lost wages may be recovered through an existing health insurance policy. If this is the case, then you may need minimal PIP or none at all.

How Much PIP Coverage Do You Need?

If you live in a state that requires PIP, then the minimum amount you must carry has already been decided for you. If you live in a state where PIP is not required, however, you might decide that you need the extra coverage anyway. How much coverage do you need? Well, to a large extent, that depends on where you are in life. If you are middle-aged or older, have good health insurance and liability policies, and then you will need minimal PIP coverage. If, on the other hand, you are young, just starting out and still don t have much in the way of health and liability insurance, you will want to protect yourself and your future by carrying as much insurance as you can afford. This is especially true if you have young children or if you consistently carry others in your vehicle.

Auto Insurance
Auto insurance in Canada is as essential as most other countries around the world. The main difference is that each Province has its own rules and regulations regarding the minimum level of cover and also who can supply the insurance cover. Without a doubt it is imperative that wherever you reside in Canada you do have the minimum level of cover required by Provincial Law, you were truthful when you applied for the coverage and that you are able to produce the correct documentation (the ?pink card? which is your proof of insurance anywhere in Canada) if requested by the police.

The minimum level of Auto Insurance and who provides it differs around the various Provinces with British Columbia, Manitoba and Saskatchewan Government Insurance agencies being the authorized vendor. You will purchase the minimum level of cover when you register your vehicle each year. This applies to the minimum coverage with both the Government and Private companies offering additional coverage that effectively boosts the level of protection. The Province of Quebec has a slightly different system with any vehicular or property damage being covered by private companies and the injury coverage being provided by the Provincial Government. These provinces may not give out the Pink card as the vehicle registration is proof of insurance.

The remaining Provinces all have private insurance companies giving the Auto Insurance coverage with Alberta in particular recently having a Provincial Government led revamp of their system. This led to a reduction in the maximum level of compensation paid out to minor injuries in a bid to reduce spiraling premiums.

In Canada, every vehicle driver who is correctly licensed has access to the basic auto insurance required by Law. However, your driving history will have a direct impact on the amount you will pay for this insurance along with several other factors:

1. The make and year of vehicle you drive (for comprehensive policies)
2. The location of the vehicle (?bad area?s with high crime have higher premiums)
3. Business use
4. Insurance claim record (more claims higher cost)
5. Number and age of other drivers who are entitled to use your vehicle and their driving records.

The Canadian Council of Insurance Regulators is a country wide body that?s mission is to ?promote an efficient and effective regulatory system in Canada to protect the public interest?. Each Province in turn has its own insurance regulatory body to ensure that standards are introduced and then subsequently followed ? these regulators cover most types of insurance and not just the Auto Insurance.

If you are inadequately or incorrectly covered the consequences may be severe. The legal action will undoubtedly involve demerit points on your license and also a hefty fine. This in turn will increase your future insurance premiums quite substantially. The other side of it is that should you be involved in an accident where you are at fault your insurance will be invalid. Then you are liable for all the costs associated with the accident (yours and other vehicle repairs/replacement, damaged property, emergency service costs, clean up costs. This may seem a lot of money, which it is, but this will pale into insignificance should anyone be injured seriously or killed and will most likely end up in bankruptcy.

Another good tip is to use a quality Auto Insurance company, not always the cheapest, but I know from experience that if you are injured in an accident you have better things to concern you than being messed around by a substandard insurance company. The Physiotherapist treating my minor injuries had extensive experience of clients who had injuries being treated that were fighting every step of the way to have the treatment paid for when it was clearly covered in the policy.

In the event of an accident or claim against your policy it is imperative you contact your insurance agent as soon as is practically possible. If injuries have been inflicted, unlawful damage or theft taken place or the amount of damage will be beyond the limit stated for each Province then the Police must also be contacted within a prescribed time limit. Contacting the Police and the agent will ensure that correct procedures are followed, you do not negate the policy or incur additional Police Charges (depending upon circumstances).

The Importance of Van Insurance
As the family starts growing, you need that bigger vehicle. As much as you hate to lose your cool status, you begin eyeing that van. The van does offer your growing family lots of benefits and protection, but don t forget to protect your new vehicle with van insurance. Searching for the right van insurance is not always fun, but it is always worth it ” especially if disaster does strike. As you begin to shop around for the policy that is best for you there are some things you can do to make the search more effective. Make a list of wants, compare the policies equally (make sure that the deductible is the same, the coverage is the same, and the discounts are noted), and let the agents attitude and personality be a factor as you gauge which company to work with. I m a firm believer in getting full coverage van insurance. In our case, this means that we have roadside assistance, liability (for when we hit someone else), and collision (for when something hits us). Many people drop collision when the vehicle reaches a certain age. If you have the money to replace a vehicle that is totaled through no fault of your own (say a limb falls 70 ft from the tree you parked under over night and it crushes the van) then go for it. For us, the savings is not that great each year, so continuing the full van insurance is the right choice. Van insurance is more than just a policy; it is about the family of employees that work to get your needs met. Our agent knows our family, and when our van was totaled, he knew that with a new baby due any day, we couldn t wait around for long. Within hours of my call, he had a tow truck onsite to pick up the van. Two days later, I received a check for the totaled vehicle. Getting van insurance will ease your mind ” before, during, and after you need it. When you find that perfect family vehicle, protect it like it was part of the family. Insurance is one of those things that you only appreciate fully if you need it. Until that day, just trust those of us who have been there. Get your van insurance today.
